Late Spring Newsletter - Hens and Concerts
Greetings!
Suddenly it feels like summer ... the peas in my garden flowered yesterday, and some of the tomatoes I've been coaxing out of egg cartons of dirt have been moved from my basement to containers outside. And speaking of egg cartons, we welcomed a couple of hens a month ago, and they are so weird.

It feels good to dig in dirt and watch the hens dig too. If you're in the area and want to meet these critters, they would be happy to squawk at you.
I'm really keen to share with you a couple of concerts coming in a few weeks. I've been working on a solo program of music that explores real and imaginary places ... so it includes Chopin's Barcarolle – we're on a boat! Liszt's Valee d'Obermann – we're lost in a fictitious place in Switzerland! Debussy's L'Isle Joyeuse – we're heading to an imaginary island of bliss! but also several pieces from Connor Chee's Sandpaintings, musical representations of Diné images used for healing in the Southwest. I'll be performing this program in a house concert (River Forest, IL) on June 13, 3PM. Message me and I'd be happy to send an invitation. Will also be playing this program in early July at Fourth Presbyterian, but more on that in a future letter.
The next day, on June 14, 3PM, is the Second Sunday Season Finale at United Lutheran (Oak Park, IL). https://facebook.com/events/s/second-sunday-season-finale-ch/972359821867036/ Concert is free and open to the public, with lots of room to move around. It's a great program of three different trios with three different configurations! Along with Janice Lee, violin, Laura McLaughlin, clarinet and Christopher Ferrer, cello, I'll be playing Ravel's Piano Trio in A minor, Khachaturian Trio for Clarinet, Violin and Piano, and Brahms' Clarinet Trio.
In case you've been hoping to catch a concert this spring, but haven't been able to, here is a live recording to share from my performance with Christopher Ferrer on April 10 at Fourth Presbyterian (Chicago, IL) https://www.youtube.com/live/1lYXEDoXSFI?si=2YHzxrihUP9PtYzv
Hope this letter finds you well,
Cacie
